The National Cherry Blossom Festival Parade is free to watch from the street. In 2026 it ran on Saturday, April 11, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., along ten blocks of Constitution Avenue NW between 7th and 17th Streets. The only ticketed part is the grandstands, $28 to $45. Roads start closing at 3:00 a.m., so take the Metro. And know this before you book a flight: the parade lands about two weeks after peak bloom at the Tidal Basin, so most of the famous blossoms are finished by then.

How much walking is this, really?

The Mall looks short on a map. It isn’t. Capitol to Lincoln Memorial is about two miles in a straight line, and once you add the Tidal Basin and the three memorials that sit off the main line, a realistic day is closer to four miles, or six to seven if you cover most of the major monuments.

So wear real shoes, and eat before the parade, because once the streets close the food is whatever you carried in.
