How I Became a Full-Time Traveller
It all started at a fitness retreat in the US in 2014 called Camp Nerd Fitness. That’s where I first became aware that digital nomads existed. My curiosity was immediately sparked and when I went home from the event, I immediately started planning how to get more adventure and travels in my life and how I could eventually make my new dream of becoming a digital nomad a reality. I worked my butt off for the next year with my full time government job, my pet sitting business, started working online as a virtual assistant as a side hustle, and started my business teaching Spanish online. My goal was to leave behind my full time job, move out of the room I rented in Maryland, close my pet sitting business, move across the country to Colorado with my dogs and begin my new life working online. I made that transition at the end of 2015, and started traveling even more and now for a few weeks at a time. After a few months of working only online, my income stabilized to the point where working online was a viable way to maintain my life. Over the next few years, I traveled all around the US and started visiting new corners of the globe, all the while working online. Each step gave me more courage to step further out of my comfort zone and pursue new travel and lifestyle challenges. Now my home base is in Mexico and I travel frequently.
